Image Image Gallery

A fusion of the still life genre with advertisement and abstraction, Bradley Boboc’s forthcoming book Image Image Gallery serves as a window into the artist’s practice. Printed on newsprint and perfectly-bound, the book features 54 unique drawings that speak to the nature of his composition process, resulting in a provocative blend of disparate imagery.

Completed entirely in black marker, along with the occasional collage element, the skeletal drawings throughout Image Image Gallery rely on sparse gesture to produce a synesthetic feeling. While touching on themes like beauty, medicine, and spirituality, the work also considers the ideas of compression and reproduction. The quick tempo of Boboc’s marks distorts forms and reduces them to their core essence. Confronted with abundant negative space, the viewer must fill in the gaps and ultimately consider what has been lost.
